Position Summary
Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center (OPVMC) is seeking a dedicated Emergency Veterinarian to join our collaborative, 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital. As a vital member of our emergency team, you’ll manage a wide variety of urgent and complex cases in a fast-paced, fully equipped facility. Essential Functions
• Provide emergency and critical care to small animal patients presenting with a variety of conditions
• Triage, diagnose, and manage high-acuity medical and surgical cases
• Develop and implement treatment plans quickly and accurately, with the support of skilled LVTs and VAs
• Collaborate with other departments, including internal medicine, surgery, oncology, and radiology, for comprehensive patient care
• Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners, especially during high-stress or emotionally difficult situations
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records using Ezy Vet and Smart flow
• Participate in case rounds, continuing education, and hospital-wide training opportunities
• Contribute to the growth of our emergency department through input on protocols and patient care improvements
Education and Experience
• DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary school (Required)
• Emergency medicine experience preferred; internship-trained new graduates are encouraged to apply
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of New York (Required)
• Familiarity with AAHA guidelines and emergency care best practices
• Board certification in emergency/critical care or another specialty is a plus, but not required

• Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of prioritizing cases during high-volume periods
• Proficient in or willing to learn EMR systems (Ezy Vet and Smart flow)
